Jogendro "Jogi" Kshetrimayum
Jogi grew up in Manipur, Northeast India. He has an MA in anthropology from the University of Delhi and a PhD in Cultural Anthropology from the University of Texas at Austin. Although a “self-taught” artist, Jogi was helped along the way by many wonderful teachers and generous individuals. He currently teach at the Department of Sociology, Anthropology and Criminology, Eastern Michigan University.
For me, anthropology and art offer wonderful opportunities to meditate on and engage with urgent social issues of our times. As such, my works are often inspired by community engagements in India, Guatemala and the US. While my primary medium of expression is painting, I am constantly exploring and learning other media.
